July 1 Update

Hi all,

The DJIA is currently at 8409, down 120 points for the day. Thats down about two percent from the last update. That make me look good. I’m sure you’ve heard, like I have, that the worst is over I don’t buy it. I think the “green shoots” they keep seeing, will turn out to be weeds. Now is a great time to prepare a list of great companies that you would like to own if the price was right. There are still good opportunities available, but to those prepared for the opportunities. Be ready, then strike.

I think it was Sir John Templeton that said, I’ll paraphrase, “The best time to buy stocks is not when there is panic in the streets but when there is blood in the streets” or something like that. The current financial fiasco brought that to my mind. We’re not anywhere near blood in the streets but we might do well to not get caught up in the histeria. How about we take a good look around and be smart and find the opportunity. It probably won’t be where all the eyes are looking

And they say foriegn markets are risky. WOW! What a mess. Lehman Brothers are gone, who will it be next. AIG perhaps or most likely. Aig is another one of the golden boys of wall street, at least it was. I am taken back by the massive amount of mismanagement in these very large corporations. Are they just literely too big to manage. Just too much money to deploy profitably and safely. It seems so.

Fanny and Freddie are doomed.

What a messy market. Fanny and Freddy are doomed, or not doomed, depends on how you see it, with Uncle Sam imposing himslf on the free market. I think this is the biggest financial catastrophe since the great depression. But you gotta promise to keep this under your hat because we wouldn’t want to upset our leaders in Washington or the American people for that matter, by looking at the real condition of our economy. The numbers are staggering. This is just a football field sized band-aid. I believe that the U.S. economy has a great deal of internal bleeding that has yet to be adressed. I expect a multitude of bank failures in the next year or two. URGENT

Hi, I’m “The Urgent Investor”. This blog will chronicle my Investing. But not just money. Money is not the only thing to invest. I have spent a fair amount of my time on investing money.
